Artist: p.Marko Ivan Rupnik, Centro Aletti, arch. Paolo Marciani
Production: Windows and lamps Bokart Bokart, 2021.
In the ancient church of San Giovanni di Laterano in Rome, a new chapel of the pontifical Roman Major Seminary has undergone a complete renovation. Under the guidance of the versatile architect Paolo Marciani and artist p. Marko Ivan Rupnik and his team from Centro Aletti, the chapel has been given a new life and ambiance.
New fresco painting, flooring, seating, windows and lights represent a unique style that reflects the tradition of Roman architecture.
A total of 125 m2 of artistically colored glass was placed in new aluminum frame windows, that were also produced by Bokart, with protective isolated glazing.
Hand-painted with translucent ceramic colors, the transition from darker shades in the entrance to the very light-colored glass closer at the altar has a symbolic significance. Along with the windows, Bokart produced custom-made large tube glass lamps in cooperation with the Croatian-based company called Dekor Zabok. These large lamps have specific light control and can reflect different light and shades according to the preprogrammed schedule.
