Project Name: Innovative System of Partition Glass Walls with High Sound Insulation
NPOO.C1.1.2.R2-I5.01.0262
Recipient: BOKART LLC for Trade and Services
Brief Project Description: The project aims to enable Bokart LLC to commercialize an innovative product: partition glass walls with high sound insulation, produced using innovative technology. The company has developed a system of glass partitions that allows for sound insulation up to 42 dB. There is an increasing need for sound insulation in modern public and private spaces for several reasons. The new system of glass walls with special properties addresses the issue of sound insulation, while meeting the requirements of modern architecture for visual openness of spaces, as it involves the application of innovative glass processing technologies during production: micro sandblasting and glass printing.

Our technology - a novelty on the global market
"Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies" - in further experimental procedures we proved that any photo or graphic on glass can be obtained with this technology in the form of a partial mirror surface and a transparent or colored part. In addition to the decorative element, applied metals on glass also have specific technical characteristics - they conduct electricity, can heat, and therefore can be used for a wide range of purposes in different industries.
Such glass can be used for various decorative purposes in architecture - as partition glass walls, glass doors, fences, wall coverings, glass floors, etc. This innovative glass processing technology is new to the global market, as proven by a search of patent databases.

Nano-inks in real conditions
As part of the project "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies", we are currently testing the properties of glass processed with nano-inks in real conditions. We are interested in whether it reduces energy consumption in the buildings in which it is installed - i.e. what is its level of energy efficiency; how marketable it is, etc. We expect that the result of this phase will be a special type of glass. Glass that has a layer of copper or silver on it that makes the surface reflective. After applying the desired metals, the glass is either laminated (the process of gluing two or more glasses) or varnished with a protective layer of paint to protect the layer of applied metal.

Experimental development
In the 2nd phase of the project "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies", we are conducting experimental development, i.e. all materials and results obtained in the previous phase were tested in the company Bokart d.o.o. with the aim of using the acquired technological, business and other knowledge and skills related to glass processing technology. We approached a series of experimental printing on glass and variants of glass processing with the help of special nano-ink.
The effect of lamination
"Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies" - an important part of the research is testing the impact of glass lamination and EVA foils for lamination on the durability of the copper/silver print. The need for this arose from the request to make a print of special nano inks on glass in a transparent version. The conductivity of the print will also be tested in order to determine the further possibility of application as heating elements.
May 2022.
Print durability
In the project "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies" we also examine the durability of copper/silver printing and susceptibility to changes in visual and technical characteristics over time. The influence of the medium of the copper/silver solution on the durability of the heads is also important, i.e. whether and how the medium affects the long-term print quality. When protecting the silver/copper layer by applying paint, we find out which protective paint coating is the most stable in the long term and resistant to the effects of glue and other external influences.

Testing of metallic inks
Encouraged by the results so far of "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies", we are approaching further testing. We performed adhesion testing of silver/copper ink on glass, measured the sedimentation layer of silver/copper ink on glass to determine which layer gives the best results.
Metal print on glass
As part of the industrial testing phase "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies", we are developing the technology of applying thin metal coatings to glass by inkjet printing. Our goal is to obtain glass of very high aesthetic value, which increases the energy efficiency of the buildings on which it is installed - it provides shade in the summer, and preserves heat better than ordinary glass in the winter. First of all, it was necessary to develop a solution that has satisfactory technical characteristics for applying the print on glass. That part of the research is carried out by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. After that, that media is tested on different heads in the printer to determine which size head gives the best results.

Ink-jet printer for special inks
As part of the project "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies" in Bokart d.o.o. we developed an ink-jet printer on which we tested the inks obtained in the previous research phase. We will use these special inks to print on glass and thereby obtain metal layers on the glass. During industrial research, the goals are to create components of a complex system of innovative new glass processing technology, as well as to realize the first attempts at printing with nano-ink on glass, i.e. the first samples.
January 2021.
Test phase
We have successfully started the test phase of the project "Research and development of innovative glass processing technologies". In the first phase of research conducted by our partner, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, we are developing metal precursor ink. These are special inks for printing on glass, for which it was necessary to test the appropriate solvent as well as to test the conductivity and rate of sedimentation of metals (silver and copper).

Commercialization of the innovative technology of decorative reflective glass
Project name:Commercialization of innovative technology of decorative reflective glass - KK.03.2.2.06.0025
Beneficiary: BOKART limited liability company for trade and services
Brief description of the project: The project commercializes the company's innovation - digitally produced glass obtained by an innovative technological method (gold, silver, lead or copper is applied using special techniques). The processed glass has superior characteristics compared to the standard low-e layer of iron oxide. The very process of processing such glass is more energy efficient and has less waste than the classic way (digital techniques are used). Glass with applied gold, silver, lead or copper has an even lower coefficient of heat transfer by an additional 20 - 50%, depending on the applied decorative element.
The process is unique in the world and no manufacturer uses the same manufacturing technology.
Goals and expected results of the project: Enable the company BOKART d.o.o. successful launch of an innovative product on the market (commercialization) and increase in sales through new orders.
