National Sanctury of John Paul II
Washington D.C., USA
Artist: p.Marko Ivan Rupnik, Centro Aletti, arch. John Hopkins
Production: Bokart, 2015.
The new sanctuary made in honor of the most beloved pope, Saint John Paul II, was decorated with the utmost stunning mosaics made by p. Rupnik and Centro Aletti.
With 220 m2 of art glass that covers the long horizontal windows, a new light has been introduced into the building. Hand-painted with ceramic colors from Color Italia, specially made for this project, the pieces were placed in tempered isolated glass. Additional 24 large tube lamps were produced in order to introduce more light to the shrine, along with the possibility to change the light via specific programmed illumination.
