Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua
Zagreb, Croatia
Artist: Tihomir Lončar
Production: Bokart, 2009
The Zagreb Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua at Sveti Duh is one of the most important achievements of Croatian modern architecture. New stained glass windows have been installed on the eastern and western facade windows, which exceptionally complement the architecture of the church building. The artist Tihomir Lončar, in agreement with the Franciscan brothers and architect Kovačić, created a colorful cross that follows the given forms and shapes of the windows.
Through the change of light from morning to afternoon, the interior of the church comes to life and metaphorically follows the transformation of life's light. The windows were crafted using the technique of glass fusion with very impressive colored glass, perfectly integrated into a unique form. The light takes the emphasis and creates a new experience of the space.
